Detail

This section of the preview pane displays work item fields. These fields are read only and you cannot edit or add values to them.

You can click to configure what type of information is displayed in the Detail section.

Configuring Display Preferences

To configure what fields are displayed, click .

This opens the Display Preferences field with the following two options:

Configuring My Field Preferences

The Detail section displays all the fields that have a value. Using the My Field Preferences option, you can display only the fields you are interested in.

1.   In the Detail section, click .
2.   In the Detail section, select Yes next to the My Field Preferences option.

Use this text box that opens to add or remove the type of information you want displayed.

For example, in the image below shows that the item type, work item description, account number, and status fields will be displayed:

3.   To add items, click or type in an empty space to open a drop-down list.

Note: As you type, the drop-down list is automatically filtered and updated.

4.   From the drop-down list, select the fields you want to display in the Detail section.
5.   To remove fields, click the X next to the field name.

Note: You can also remove items by pressing BACKSPACE when the cursor is in the field. The item to the left of the cursor will be selected and highlighted in blue to warn you that the next time you press BACKSPACE, it will be deleted.

The image below shows the Item Type field has been marked for deletion.

6.   After you have selected the fields you want to display, click Save.

The text box closes and the fields you selected are displayed.

Note: The fields you select are displayed only if they are available in the selected work item and only if they have a value associated with it.

Showing Empty Fields

Work item fields that do not have a value are not shown in the Detail section. Use the Show Empty Fields option to display fields without a value.

1.   In the Detail section, click .
2.   In the Detail section, select Yes next to the My Field Preferences option.
3.   Click Save.

The fields without values are now displayed.

Buttons and Fields

Items Description

Opens the Display Preferences field.
By default, this setting is turned off. Turn it on to select the specific work item fields you want to be displayed in the Detail section.
Click Yes to display work item fields that have no value.
Cancels any changes you've made in the Display Preferences field.
Saves the changes you've made in the Display Preferences field.
Move back to the top of the Work Item Preview pane.
